Crime Mapping Resource

We have been notified of a new Crime Mapping Resource that is now available for the public to use in order to track crime in their communities. This resource is maintained by a website company that receives crime data from a national crime reporting database used by police in locations across the country to track crime information.

After spending quite some time reviewing this new crime reporting website, we have found it to be reasonably up to date and accurate. Below are some of our findings that may help you to use this new resource.

We have found that when you go to the site, entering 30 days gives the best all around report of crime in the area regardless of the address you enter (as
long as it is 21136 zip code). Once the report is returned, clicking on the "Terrain" button (upper right corner) gives a more complete map by street
name. If you click on Hybrid (also upper right corner), it returns a satellite view of the area.

Scrolling down (left side) of the returned report gives a capsule notification of the type of crime, when, and where it was committed within the time frame entered (eg 30 days).

When the site appears, simply enter the street address that you wish to review, complete with town and zip code, and click on Get Report. As indicated above, clicking on 30 days (Period) provides a more comprehensive report.

You can search for crime statistics in virtually any location within the US that you may desire. Simply replace Reisterstown with the city/location desired and MD with the state of the city/location in the above site address. Then, in the box entitled "Enter Location", type in the specific address desired.
