BGE Information

From Mary Molinaro and Calvin Reter

I attended the June ROG meeting and they had a representative from the Maryland Energy Consortium, which is one of the 5 companies in the State of Maryland allowed to sell to Maryland Residents, discuss how they would sign up customers. They had an application which I will attach to this email. Since getting this paperwork, of course the special legislative session was held, the BGE bill was presented, vetoed, and overriden and I, like many Marylanders, am trying to get a handle on the meaning of all of this.

1. I understand that effective July 1st for the next 10 or 11 months there will be a 15% increase for electricity from BGE and a $2.19 charge each month for the next 10 years and no one can choose to opt-out.

2. I understand that if you choose a different electric supplier, you will still receive a BGE bill for the electric delivery charges, gas service charges, gas delivery charges, taxes and of course the $2.19 charge. The new electric supplier will replace the one part of your bill with the electric delivery which right now is $.06115 per kwh. With a 15% increase, I believe it would become around $.0703225 per kwh.

3. As you can see on the attached application, the price is over $.1018 per kwh . Note:I would make the change on the application to $.0991 should you choose them as your electric supplier and initial it before faxing the application. I’m sure you can contact them if you have questions. They have a July 7th deadline for the pricing indicated for August through December locked in rates.

4. I just received an email from Calvin Reter (see below my signature), President of ROG, that he has gotten an offer for $.0991 per kwh from Maryland Energy Consortium which he says is the best offer that he has seen from a supplier other than BGE.

I'm happy to provide our members with the information I have on hand; but, I am not advising you to stay with or leave BGE. I still don't feel like I know what to expect with the electric bill and haven't decided myself to leave BGE for an alternative company.

There was information on the BGE website www.bge.com

The Maryland General Assembly Passes Electric Rate Legislation
On July 1, BGE's residential electric rates will be updated to reflect the market price for electricity, and as a result, your electric bill will increase significantly. To help customers manage the rising cost of electricity, the Maryland Legislature passed a law. BGE is providing this information to help you understand how this law impacts your electric bill. The current law replaces all previous electric rate stabilization plans.

This law is not optional and all customers, per legislative directive, are participants. Whether you opted-in, opted-out or were still making up your mind, NO ACTION is required.

Watch your mail for more information.

Good luck,

Mary Molinaro, President

Subject: Con- Electric update`

New price per kWh as of

4:00 P.M. today

$0.0991 per kWh August Through December This is the best price I think we are going to get at this time. We will go out on bids in December for a 12 month price.

Remember unless you fill out the form provided by Mr Rosenstein and get it to him by July 7 you are not in the program.

Any questions Contact me.

In my opinion every one that has an account with BGE should sign on with Con-Electric.

Please make your friends and neighbors aware of this program.

Calvin
